The Summer Tips to Give You the Best Lawn on the Block

People put intense effort into their lawns as a welcoming gesture for the neighborhood and their home. We have seen some bad habits in the past that ultimately limited the growth of their grass. There are sustainable steps you can take to help your lawn grow properly to reach its healthiest potential. Read on to learn more about how to treat your lawn, so it sets the standard of strength on your block.

Watering

Keeping your lawn hydrated is the difference between healthy grass and a barren yard. Your entire yard and the surrounding area needs at least an inch of water weekly. Whether from rain your a sprinkler doesn’t matter, just so long as the lawn gets wet. The earlier in the day that you water brings the best outcome, so the sun doesn’t get a chance to drink it up. Make sure not to overwater your lawn to avoid bacterial growth.

Weeding

Weeds are a headache for homeowners everywhere that has grass. Get in the habit of walking around your yard every other day to look for and root out weeds. When you remove each weed early, the chance of them spreading drops.

Fertilization

Fertilization provides the nutrients for a stable and functioning yard. Make sure to add fertilization at the beginning of the season in spring and at the end of fall before the winter comes. Look for organic fertilizers for the spring session to give your soil a boost, setting the stage for rapid plant growth. Winterizing fertilizers will be different. These late-season fertilizers will encourage the soil to capture and hold onto nutrients over the winter so it can bounce back more efficiently during the following season.

Seeding

Lawns get patchy over time. Fill in the gaps by adding seeds. Do your best to be patient, as overseeding an area will not be best for long term growth in the area. After you have added the recommended amount of seeds, maintain regular watering, and watch the growth over the coming days and weeks.
